From her early years, Janet Edin loved to draw and create. At the age 10 she saved her allowance to buy oils and canvases, designing very basic still-life’s which continued throughout her teen years.
Then, about 10 years ago, Janet became intrigued with the art of Paper Tole, a three-dimensional work in paper which is an art form started in France in the 1700’s. She showed this work first in Las Vegas, Nevada, at a small gallery and later moved to Florida where she exhibited at the Gallery of Local Art (GOLA).
While at GOLA, Janet became captivated by precious metal working of jewelry. A local artist there became Janet’s expert and advisor, and she continues to mentor Janet.
Janet works in sterling silver and stones doing Chainmaille, an intricate method of wire weaving that has been around since the 5th Century. With more than 900 weaves or patterns, each artistic weave is distinct and each piece of silver jewelry Janet creates is uniquely custom made.
Janet’s custom pieces at SeaCasas include bracelets, rings, necklaces, chokers and earrings.
